Healing Emotional Wounds: Shifting From ‘Why’ to ‘How’ for True Awakening and Inner Alignment
by Lisa A. Romano
When I found myself consumed by my subconscious mind—overwhelmed with worries, fears, and the unresolved wounds of my inner child—I had no understanding of the quantum nature of reality or the profound way thoughts become things. I didn’t know that my childhood experiences had shaped the lens through which I viewed my world, nor did I comprehend how my parents' unhealed wounds had invisibly passed through me.
Like so many others who come from codependent or emotionally neglectful environments, my mind was clouded by subconscious negative beliefs that had hardened into habitual thought patterns. These pathways led me into a chronic state of fear, keeping my mind trapped in a state of survival—focused on controlling how others perceived me and, ultimately, keeping me disconnected from my higher self.
But like you, I longed for the peace and self-awareness that teachers like Louise Hay, Melody Beattie, and Eckhart Tolle had attained. I yearned to understand reality the way Abraham-Hicks explained it—to truly believe that I could shift my inner world and change my life.
Over the last 30 years, I’ve made healing my mind and emotions my highest priority. I’ve done the deep work to uncover my limiting beliefs, to retrain my thoughts, and to understand the energetic laws that govern our universe. What I’ve learned is that until we can observe our own patterns of thought and behavior—until we truly align with conscious awareness—we remain stuck in the same cycles of pain.
I used to ask all the wrong questions:
"Why is this happening to me?"
"Why don’t they love me?"
"Why can’t I seem to get it right?"
It wasn’t until I shifted my focus from why to how that I started to see real change in my life. Instead of asking why life was hard, I started asking:
"How can I break these cycles?"
"How can I love and support myself more fully?"
"How can I align with the truth of who I am?"
Shifting from ‘Why’ to ‘How’ was a gift from a higher level of consciousness. This is what I want to share with you today: the understanding that you have the power to heal your life.
Like Eckhart Tolle teaches, true freedom comes from realizing that the ego is not your true self. When you stop asking why and start focusing on how, you begin to shift into higher consciousness. And once you align with that awareness, your thoughts, your energy, and your life begin to change in ways you never thought possible.
Remember, Dear One, the universe operates under divine law. The pain you’re experiencing is not a punishment—it's simply the effect of patterns repeating themselves. But you can break free from these patterns.
You can heal your life.
I am proof and now I know what Louise Hay, Melody Beattie, Eckhart Tolle and Abraham Hicks were trying to teach.
